These are selling like hotcakes

To silly old ladies like me.
You probably know that Paul MacCartney's new album is on sale at Starbucks. It is prominently displayed with these new Starbucks cards.

This morning while waiting for my iced Americano, standing right next to the display, a pair of women came in and one stopped and pointed at the display and snorted, "Look at that! Who would buy that card? Who cares about Paul MacCartney!?" Her friend, clearly stung, said, "Well, I do!" I could not simply stand by silently, so I stepped forward and said, "So do I." "Do you have that card?" the first woman asked. I do and I pulled it out of my purse and proudly showed it to her. Beth, who had just arrived on the scene declared that she had one too.

So there.

Paul will be ::::gasp:::: 65 this year... I saw him on a morning show this AM here in sunny Southern Calif. Ohhhhhhhhhhh Paulllllll, Thanks for the great posts on Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club... I need to buy a replacement CD like someone else posted. What memories what youth::::sigh:::. Next you'll be telling us Neil Sadaka, Fabian and Bobby Rydell are in their 60's too! My GF's and I remmember the GOOD parts of the 60's and 70's when gas was 35 cents a gallon and sex didn't kill you... then we grew up! What a great post thanks again.

  3. Thanks for this Terry and I love what Ruth wrote-so true. I wish I had some pics of that time but I was maried to my first husband in 1968 and he was a photographer-he got the pictures when we split. Who knew I'd care so much all this time later. Loved the music and the time was so sweet and carefree. I feel sad for kids today regarding that. The sense of freedom was amazing and joyous. I almost bought one of those, (gasp) oldie albums recently on tv. One of the best memories fromthat time is seeing Eric Clapton and Ringo Starr at the concert for Bangladesh in Manhattan. Ahhhh good times.

  4. Oh I like Paul too! (And I'm only 37.) In fact, we just bought the Beatles 1 album and play it in the car all the time. It's lead to great discussions with the kids about music and art and what kinds of things we did as kids. (Not every detail, of course.)

  5. I love what you wrote and the others about Sir Paul. Such amazing talent! My 20 year old daughter took a "History of Rock and Roll" class at college recently and one day after studying the "Beatle Era" she was hooked. Thanks for the great post. I enjoy reading your blog from time to time.
